ABOUT RONDA
Introduction
Ronda is a 5th class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. It is bounded on the north by municipality of Dumanjug, on the south by municipality of Alcantara and on the east by municipality
of Argao and on the west by Tanon Strait.
History
The original name of Ronda was Holoyaw. During the Spanish era native
settlements along the river banks were abundant of banana plant called
holoyaw. The Spaniards took advantage of the friendly attitude of the natives by asking them to change the village name from Holoyaw to Ronda.
They pointed the village was flaked by two (2) highlands of Libo-o Hill
and Cambun-an Hill a site to a place called Ronda in Spain. The chief of the village and his counselors accepted the suggestion and so Ronda
became the name of the town.
Economy
Ronda's main industries are livestock and agriculture.
Ronda
is situated in the southwestern coast of the island of Cebu and
is about 81 kilometers from Cebu City. The municipality is bounded in
the north by municipality of Dumanjug, on the south by municipality of Alcantara and on the east by municipality of Argao and on the west by Tanon Strait.

Ronda can be reached by public buses or V-Hires (vans) from the Cebu
South Terminal in Cebu City. Estimated travel time is about 2.0 hours. Political

Ronda is composed of 14 barangays, namely: Butong, Can-abuhon,
Canduling, Cansalonoy, Cansayahon, Ilaya, Langin, Libo-o, Malalay,
Palanas, Poblacion, Santa Cruz, Tupas and Vive.
Population
According to the 2000 census, Ronda has a population of 16,808 people
in 3,544 household
